Available for an ArcGIS organization licensed with the Indoors extension.
Indoor Space Planner is a browser-based app that allows for planning the activity of occupants in an indoor space. For example, Space Planner lets you plan the work locations for employees on a corporate campus. Space Planner also allows for the assignment of people to individual spaces, or to activity-based work areas, sometimes called hotels or hot desks.
Space Planner provides a methodology for creating space planning scenarios through plans. Each plan provides a way to evaluate several scenarios for reassigning people to a space. Using visualization tools and key data points, space planners can export the plan that best fits their requirements for use in other resource planning packages. Move management systems and employee management systems are two examples of systems that would implement the space plan information from Space Planner. Finally, the accepted plan can be merged into the ArcGIS Indoors data model to become the new standard.
Prerequisite
Space Planner works with existing ArcGIS Indoors data. Space Planner is a configurable web app template that uses a web map created in ArcGIS Pro and shared to your ArcGIS Enterprise portal.
Workflow examples
Before getting started with the creation and deployment of Space Planner, it is helpful to understand some basic space planning workflows. The following space assignment types are supported by Space Planner.
Individual space assignments
Many organizations operate with people assigned to designated spaces. In these organizations, you can use Space Planner to view current assignments, unassign people and spaces, and reassign those people to new spaces. Once reassigned, the draft plan can be saved and revisited later to compare with other plans and find an optimal space planning solution.
Activity-based work environments
Other organizations operate on what are commonly known as activity-based work environments. This strategy of space management doesn’t have permanent assigned spaces but has rather has spaces used on an as-needed or best-suited basis. This type of environment is becoming a very popular space management strategy for organizations looking to maximize the use of expensive indoor space. In activity-based work environments, employees can be assigned to a general area rather than a specific space. Space Planner can support this by clearing current space assignments, managing hotel and hot desk areas, and re-assigning people to the new activity-based work areas.
Hybrid space assignments
Some organizations have combinations of ways employees interact with space. Space Planner can support both individual and activity-based types of space assignments in a single plan if necessary. There is no need to choose one or the other.
